Alderman Sean McDermott -

Sean McDermott was
appointed 3rd Ward Alderman in September 2007 to fill a vacancy created
when former Alderman Robert Conrad was elected Mayor. Mayor Robert
Conrad appointed McDermott to the City Council and he now serves as
Chairman of the Economic Development Committee and sits on the
Recreation and Police committees.
Alderman McDermott
and his wife Barbara are 16 year residents of Countryside. The three
McDermott children attend Highlands Elementary and Middle School.
Alderman McDermott
is employed as the director of policy, planning and government relations
at the Cook County Department of Public Health. As a public health
policy analyst, he is responsible for the research, development, and
promotion of public health laws and regulations. His public health
policy work has been recognized with awards from the National
Association of City and County Health Officials, Illinois Public Health
Association, and the Illinois Association of Public Health
Administrators.
Alderman McDermott
is active in his community having done volunteer work with the following
boards, community associations and non-profit organizations: American
Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Cook County Primary Health
Care Council Access to Care, Lyons Township Little League, LaGrange Babe
Ruth Baseball, St Cletus Food Pantry, Salt Creek Watershed Network, and
CAMBr, Chicago Area Mountain Bike Riders.
Alderman McDermott
is a 1983 graduate of Saint Mary’s College, Winona, Minnesota.
