John is a 15 year resident of Countryside. He lives
in Ward 2 with his wife of 21 years Kathy. She is a diagnostic
sonographer at a local hospital. They have six children, Kayla,
John, Lauren, Marissa, Nicole, and Scott. John is the owner and
founder of Von Drasek Roofing Inc. He has been self-employed for
over 21 years.
John is currently chairman of the Recreation
Committee, a member of the Water, Infrastructure, and Flagg Creek
Golf Course Committee, as well as past chairman of the License
Committee. John is the City liaison to Aging Well, an outreach
program for seniors.
Since becoming Alderman in April of 2005, is
constantly taking on the City’s issues.
As part of Infrastructure he had the ditch replaced
on Sunset Ave.
As Chair of Recreation, he saw to improvements at
Brancato, Hollands, Woodland Ridge, and Srejma-Michalek Parks.
As part of Water, he played a role in getting the
necessary improvements to the system to achieve 97% accountability
here.
We are receiving grant money in 2009 and 2010 for
streets in the 5th Avenue Cutoff area (74th
and Sunset). These streets were in deplorable condition compared to
the rest of the City when this area was annexed into over 5 years
ago.
John has continued to show that it takes team work to
get the job done. Since being sworn in as Alderman, he and the other
Ward 2 Alderman, Karen Michalczyk, have demonstrated what it takes
to work as a team.
I would like to thank the residents for allowing me
the privilege of being your Ward 2 Alderman for the next four years.
I will continue to vote for and be the voice of Ward 2. Please vote
on April 7, 2009.
