Edward Bailey has been the City Administrator of Countryside since July of
2001, having relocated to the Chicago area from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
A position appointed by the City Council, the City Administrator is
responsible for carrying out the policies and directives of the City Council
as well as the day-to-day operations of the City.
Among Ed’s direct responsibilities are financial management, human resources
and the representation of the City’s interests to other governments,
agencies and businesses.
For the six years prior to his arrival in Countryside, Mr. Bailey was
Director of Operations at a project to redevelop a closed U.S. Air Force
base. Preceding that project, Mr. Bailey was City Manager of Ironwood,
Michigan. Ed holds a Bachelors degree in Land Use
Planning from Northern Michigan University.
