Police Department - Fight Crime: Invest in Kids

logo

Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Illinois is an anti-crime organization of 170 police chiefs, sheriffs, state’s attorneys and crime survivors dedicated to preventing crime and violence by helping kids get the right start and stay on the right track. It is a partnership of the Illinois Center for Violence Prevention and the national Fight Crime: Invest in Kids.

Last year Countryside Police Chief Timothy Swanson, Mayor LeGant and the City council members made a commitment with Ideal School district 105 to help support the after school homework club.  Early childhood and after-school programs are also cost saving. Numerous long-term studies have found quality after-school programs and early childhood education can save the public $3 to $7 for every dollar invested in reduced crime costs, welfare dependency and through increased earning power.

After-school services not only cut crime and risky behavior but also provide a stable learning environment, tutoring and mentoring, and assistance to develop positive life skills. Juvenile crime skyrockets in the after-school hours. In most cities, juvenile crime goes up on average two times compared to the hour preceding the school bell.

For further information on how you can help contact fight crime by investing in kids please contact Fight Crime Invest in Kids: Illinois or The Countryside Police Youth division.
