For the past 34 years, Ed and his wife Cathy have lived in the same home in Countryside where they have raised their two children, Julie & Matt, who attended Pleasantdale and LT Schools.
Since 1979, Ed has served Countryside in many different capacities. He has served three terms as Ward Two Alderman where he also circulated a petition and convinced the City Council to purchase a piece of property in the ward to become a Tot Lot park. He was a charter member and chairman of the “Keep Maple Crest Golf Course Green” Committee, which saved the open space and is now known as the Flagg Creek Golf Course. During the 1992 renovation of the course, Ed was also chosen to be the chairman of the Flagg Creek Golf Course Board.
Ed has served as the chairman of the following committees: Hotel/Motel, Water, Recreation Commission, 40th Anniversary Committee, and the License Committee. He also served on the Illinois Tollway Committee, Ward Two Sewer Advisory Committee, President of the Pleasantdale Little League, and is a long time member of the American Legion Coulter Post # 1941 and the St. Cletus Parish.
Ed served in the Army on the DMZ of Korea as a missile base crew chief, was employed at Electro Motive for 18 years, American Airlines (O’Hare) for 14 years, and is presently working as the General Manager of maintenance & engineering for a hospital in Chicago.
Ed would like to thank all of the citizens that believe in his philosophy that the City Council is here to serve the public interest in the most transparent manner possible. He will have an open door policy where all citizens or business leaders may come to him to voice their opinion so that Ed can make sound decisions to help resolve their problems or concerns. He will work extremely hard to be an elected official for all the people of Countryside and will strive to gain all of your support during his next four years as Mayor.
