Steven Jasinski serves as the Treasurer of the City Council. His responsibilities include working with the City Finance Director on the City’s finances and budget.
He also serves as head of the City Finance committee and as a member of the Police Pension Fund. In addition, he serves on the Economic Development Committee.
Countryside has been home to Steve for most of his life. Growing up in Ward 3, he attended Ideal Grade School, Gurrie Junior High and Lyons Township High School. He and his wife Jennifer, son Nicholas and daughter Avery still live in Ward 3, just blocks from where he grew up.
Jasinski was interested in becoming an elected official because he wants to create a great place to live for all residents today and in the future. With a background in business and finance, Jasinski has many goals for the future of the City. Some things that Jasinski would like to see is a new and flourishing recreation department, new businesses in town, and a new City Hall.
Steve is proud to be a Countryside resident and is pleased the City is financially sound. There are many opportunities to attract new businesses and redevelop areas to attract sales tax producing stores to the community.
Looking to the future, Jasinski said the City Council is now working to redefine Countryside as the auto dealer landscape evolves. But one thing that stands out is the City employees, residents and businesses – none can survive without the other. “There are so many great things on the horizon, and I can’t wait for them to come to fruition”.
In his spare time, Steve volunteers as one of the founders of The H Foundation, www.hfoundation.org, which has raised more than $4 million for basic science cancer research. He also is an advisor for the College of Sciences at his alma mater, Eastern Illinois University, as well as a member of the Advisory Corporation Board of his college fraternity, Delta Sigma Phi. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading a horror book, finishing a jigsaw puzzle and enjoys the company of friends.
