MINUTES OF THE
BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSION
CITY OF COUNTRYSIDE
April 30, 2012

Meeting was called to order at 12:30pm. Upon roll call the following were present:

Jerry Welch, Chairman

Mark Burdett, Secretary

Mary Louise Pisone, Commissioner

Also in attendance: None.

Chairman Welch and Commissioner Pisone attended the Spring Conference for Commissioners that was held in Peoria, Illinois. Commissioner Pisone attended Modules 1 and 2; Chairman Welch attended the General Session. The fall Conference will be held in St. Charles, Illinois, in November.

The status of the Police Officer recruitment was discussed. There were 37 applications taken out by prospective candidates, 36 applications returned, and 32 candidates attended the mandatory orientation. For the written examination, 28 candidates sat for the exam, and 17 candidates passed the written exam. Candidates who passed the exam were notified via email, and also given the date and time of their oral interview. As of April 30, 2012, all but one of the candidates has acknowledged the email confirmation letter. Staff is making an effort to contact the one individual. The oral exam is scheduled for Wednesday, May 2, 2012. This portion of the exam will last approximately one hour and candidates are scheduled for their interview at either 6:00pm, 7:00pm, or 8:00pm.

Chairman Welch approved an invoice in the amount of $1,958.00 for PCI. This amount is for the written examination costs.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on June 12, 2012.

Chairman Welch asked for any additional business and hearing none asked for a motion to adjourn.

The meeting adjourned at 1:29pm.
