I. CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Alderman Musillami called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM.

II. ROLL CALL

Present: Alderman Musillami, Alderman Pondelicek, Alderman Mikolyzk

Also Present: Alderman Von Drasek, City Clerk Burdett, Asst. City Administrator Peterson, Deputy City Clerk Carey

III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Alderman Pondelicek moved to approve the minutes of June 24, 2015, as presented, seconded by Alderman Mikolyzk and carried unanimously.

IV. PUBLIC COMMENT

None

V.CONSIDERATION OF THE PROMOTION OF KAREN MELONE FROM THE POSITION OF CLERK TO SENIOR CLERK.

Alderman Musillami explained that there has been a vacancy in the Clerk’s Office since July 8, 2015 for the position of Senior Clerk. The position was posted internally for 10 working days, one candidate applied, Karen Melone. Karen was interviewed on Tuesday, July 21 and was unanimously approved by the interview committee.

Alderman Pondelicek moved to approve the promotion of Karen Melone from Clerk to Senior Clerk, seconded by Alderman Mikolyzk and carried unanimously.

VI. REQUEST APPROVAL TO UTILIZE A TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE TO ASSIST THE CLERK’S OFFICE UNTIL THE VACANCY IS FILLED.

Deputy Clerk Carey presented 2 options for temporary employment agencies; Stivers and Robert Half. Ms. Carey recommended Stivers because they are already being utilized in nearby municipalities and their rate was lower than Robert Half. A temporary employee will be utilized until a permanent employee is hired to fill the vacancy in the Clerk’s Office.

Alderman Pondelicek moved to approve utilizing a temporary employment agency, seconded by Alderman Mikolyzk and carried unanimously.

VII. REQUEST APPROVAL TO BEGIN THE HIRING PROCESS FOR THE CLERK POSITION.

Promoting Karen Melone from Clerk to Senior Clerk will create a vacancy in the Clerk position. Deputy Clerk Carey requested approval to begin the hiring process for the Clerk position.

Alderman Mikolyzk moved to approve initiating the hiring process for the Clerk position, seconded by Alderman Pondelicek and carried unanimously.

VIII. REQUEST APPROVAL TO ADVERTISE FOR THE CLERK POSITION.

Assistant City Administrator Peterson presented 2 options for advertising; DesPlaines Valley News and Suburban Life. She recommended the Suburban Life option at $416.75 because it also includes advertising on Monster.com for 30 days. This would give the position more exposure.

Alderman Mikolyzk moved to approve advertising for the Clerk position, seconded by Alderman Pondelicek and carried unanimously.

IX. OTHER BUSINESS

None

X.ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to discuss, Alderman Mikolyzk moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Alderman Pondelicek and carried unanimously.

Chairman Musillami declared the meeting adjourned at 6:43 PM.
