June 12, 2012
Meeting was called to order at 7:30pm. Upon roll call the following were present:
Jerry Welch, Chairman
Mark Burdett, Secretary
Mary Lou Pisone, Commissioner
Also in attendance: Michael Ruth, Police Chief
The minutes of the May 24, 2012 meeting were approved.
The Assistant City Administrator received a phone call from one of the candidates regarding preference points. The candidate had not received the certified letter that was sent to all candidates regarding preference points. The City has not received the signed card receipt indicating that the candidate received the letter either. Due to this situation, Chairman Welch consulted with the City Attorney regarding this issue, and it is the opinion of the Attorney that the Commission should move forward with the existing list, as the preference points would not have made the candidate move far enough up on the List to be impactful.
The Commission approved the Final Eligiblity List and signed off on it. The final list will be in effect June 19, 2012.
Chief Ruth updated the Commission on the status of a grievance filed regarding the staffing in the department and the Sergeant Promotional List.
The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on September 11, 2012.
Chairman Welch asked for any additional business and hearing none asked for a motion to adjourn.
The meeting adjourned at 7:57pm.
