CITY OF COUNTRYSIDE
MINUTES OF THE POLICE COMMITTEE MEETING
TUESDAY, JUNE 26, 2012 – 6:00 PM
CHAMBER ROOM
CALL TO ORDER & ROLL CALL:
Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. Those present were: Chairman Pondelicek, Aldermen Michalczyk, and Jasinski. Also present: Police Chief Ruth, City Administrator Gail Paul, Assistant City Administrator Sharon Peterson.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes of June 12, 2012 were signed and dated by Chairman Pondelicek.
REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE PART-TIME DESK OFFICERS.
Chief Ruth explained that Dispatch is currently understaffed and another Desk Officer has applied at the Bolingbrook Police Department and could be leaving soon. The schedule has been very difficult for the Desk Officers to cover and shifts are now being offered to Patrol Officers. The available shifts are presented, in writing, to Desk Officers first. We would anticipate needing to hire 3 part-time desk officers at a rate of $16 – 19 per hour, depending on qualifications. We can post the position on the City’s website. The Committee concurred with the staff’s recommendation.
REDUCTION IN 911 REVENUE.
Chief Ruth informed the Committee that recent Illinois legislation has changed the way that municipalities receive 911 mobile telephone revenue. Previously, the funds were directed to the town in which the mobile telephone was purchased. Now, the funds are directed, according to zip code, to the town in which the purchaser of the device resides. This represents a projected decrease of $60,000 in revenue for the City of Countryside in FY2013.
ADJOURN.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 6:15 PM.
