The City Attorney provided an update on the possibility of the City being annexed by the Pleasantdale Park District. Mr. Peck has spoken with the Park District’s Attorney regarding this matter. They are aware that if this is something they wish to move forward with, it needs to come from the Park District.
4. CAR SHOW DISCUSSION.
Mr. Fisher from the Autobarn is interested in putting on a classic car show. There was discussion on whether the CBA or the City would take the lead in putting this together. Assistant City Administrator Peterson will talk to the Autobarn on the car show and look into having the CBA coordinate the event with Autobarn.
5. OSLAD GRANT PUBLIC HEARING UPDATE.
The application period for the OSLAD grant is from May 1 to July 1, 2011. The first public hearing was held on Thursday, June 2nd. The second public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, June 22 at 7:00 pm. The Committee discussed ideas for the site plan for the park. After discussion, the Assistant City Administrator was directed to set up a neighborhood meeting to gather residents input on the park. This meeting will be held on June 20th.
6. DISCUSSION ON SUMMER CONCERT SERIES.
Katie Goggin from Designer Event Chicago was present to discuss the summer concert series. Ms. Goggin described the layout for the park, as well as the timeline for events. New this year will be the opening act, which is scheduled to start at 6:30pm, with the headliner act beginning at 7:00pm. Westfield Ford is the summer concert series sponsor, and they will come on stage, thank everyone for attending, and introduce the headline band at 7:00pm.
7. OTHER COMMITTEE BUSINESS.
Alderman McDermott discussed the drainage issues on Terry Lane. Specifically, 701 Terry Lane and 5740 Longview.
The City Engineer stated that the 5740 Longview has filled in their lot, but it doesn’t impact the drainage at 701 Terry Lane. Mr. Fitzgerald went on to say that the water has always flowed in the direction of 701 Terry Lane.
After discussion, City Engineer Fitzgerald was directed to formalize a letter for the property file stating this.
Alderman McDermott also brought up the rear lots along Terry Lane and the flooding issues. Alderman McDermott is interested in what the cost would be to put in storm sewer, and would this indeed alleviate the flooding problems. Mr. Fitzgerald said it would benefit the problem and a rough estimate on the cost would be about $40,000.00 to $45,000.00 plus the cost of the easement. This item will be referred back to the Infrastructure Committee.
CBA President Marc LaCroix gave the Committee an update on the Carnival. Unfortunately, the carnival company was double booked for August 26, 27, and 28, 2011. Chairman Von Drasek suggested examining options for a fall festival.
Resident George Contour (5808 Rose Avenue, Countryside) had questions regarding the Ideal School Park project. Mr. Contour was upset about the park project not being complete with school being out for the summer. Mr. Contour went on to say that the parking lot was too small and that he could not understand why tennis courts and basketball courts were included. Chairman Von Drasek explained that there was a planning team comprised of school board members, Elected Officials, school and city staff, and residents in the area. The team planned the layout of the park and what facilities were to be at the park. Chairman Von Drasek asked Ms. Peterson to present an update on the park at the next Recreation Committee meeting.
There being no further recreation business, the meeting adjourned at 7:05 pm.
