Jim was elected in 2011 as First Ward Alderman to fill the vacancy left by retiring Alderman Michael Smetana.  Jim moved to Countryside in 1977 with his family and siblings and later graduated from The College of DuPage.  In 1994 Jim and his wife Nancy purchased a home in Countryside where they raised their daughter Michelle.  The family is a member of the St. Cletus parish family.  Jim has been employed for over twenty-five years in various positions and capacities within the travel industry and currently holds a position with Best Travel in Elk Grove Village.

Since 2007, Jim has been an outstanding and knowledgeable member of the Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals.  He has attended a number of training programs presented by the Great Cities Institute in conjunction with the University of Illinois as well as the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning.  He continues to stay on top of changes and is able to maximize his contribution to the City’s zoning board.

Jim’s job dedication will be transferred to his duties as the new Ward 1 Alderman.  He looks forward to being available to residents and businesses and working with his new City Council team members.  Jim will take the trust that the voters placed in him and make every effort to ensure that the City of Countryside continues to be a great place to live, work, shop, play and stay.
