Chief Klimek photoChief Paul Klimek was sworn in as chief of police of the Countryside Police Department on May 24, 2023. His career in law enforcement began here in Countryside where he has served since 2004. Chief Klimek rose through the ranks holding various roles within the department including patrol officer, sergeant, commander, and deputy chief. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois-Chicago. He completed the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety’s School of Police Staff and Command and the Executive Management Program.

Chief Klimek has earned numerous certifications in various areas of law enforcement including Taser Instructor, Field Training Officer, Evidence Technician, Use of Force Instructor, and Truck Enforcement Officer. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART) and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force (SSMCTF). 

A lifelong resident of the Chicago suburbs, Paul resides in Chicago’s western suburbs with his wife and two children. When not at work he can be found spending time at baseball fields across the area watching his son play and traveling to warm destinations with his family to escape the Chicago weather.
