Countryside 2040 - A Blueprint for Our Future

The Comprehensive Plan, Countryside 2040 - A Blueprint for Our Future, was formally approved by the Countryside City Council on March 27, 2024.  The Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals had previously approved the Final Draft Comprehensive Plan on March 5, 2024.  City Council’s approval brings to an end a little over a two year community project and replaces the former Comprehensive Plan, Vision for 2024, approved on November 10, 2004.  A special thank you to everyone who participated in the planning process for the City of Countryside’s UPDATED Comprehensive Plan, which was made possible by contributions and insights of its residents, business persons, property owners, and representatives from various groups and organizations.

Final Comprehensive Plan is the result of a multi-step planning process, which stressed community engagement; assessment of existing conditions; identification of opportunities and constraints; the establishment of a vision, goals, and objectives; and the development of planning recommendations and policies.  The Comprehensive Plan also includes an updated section: Implementation with an Action Matrix.  This is the final City-approved document.

The City will now be reviewing the Implementation Schedule and Action Matrix of the Comprehensive Plan and be developing a priority list to address the many recommendations and projects contained in the Countryside 2040 - A Blueprint for Our Future.  The City will require the assistance of local and regional governments, organizations, and community groups to fully implement the Comprehensive Plan.  While the City is generally responsible for initiating and implementing most of the Plan’s policies and recommendations, there are many partnership opportunities that will be required to achieve the Plan’s goals and supporting objectives.
