The Community Development Department is located on the first floor of the Municipal Complex and maintains hours of operation M-F from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm and consists of three full-time employees.

  • Cheryl Jordan (Property Maintenance Inspector/Code Enforcement)
  • Part-time only:  Tuesday & Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm; Wednesday 8:30am – Noon
In addition, the Department utilizes the services of T.P.I. Building Code Consultant, Inc.

Primary functions of the Community Development Department are:

  • Responsible for the enforcement of ordinances regulating the protection of public health, safety, welfare as related to existing buildings and new construction.
  • To provide zoning code interpretation and enforcement.
  • General requirements for building permits.
  • To assist City Administration with economic development initiatives.
  • To provide subdivision requirements.
  • To provide scheduling for permit inspections.
  • Provides continuous review of the municipal zoning code.
  • To review all preliminary and final site plans.
  • To conduct inspections for the pre-sale inspection program, rental property inspection and licensing program, and vacant property licensing and inspection program.
  • To serve as the city’s liaison to the plan commission/zoning board of appeals.
  • To provide certificate of occupancy and business license inspections.
  • To provide constant review of the comprehensive plan, Countryside 2040 - A Blueprint for Our Future.
  • To provide customer service for contractors, home, business, and property owners as necessary.
